Ruby Award

This award was established “For Women Helping Women” and acknowledges women in our community who, through both personal or professional activities, work to improve the lives of women and girls. The work of these women helps to promote the issues that are important to Soroptimist International of Redding’s goals in supporting our local community.

Honorees are women who have worked in our community in extraordinary ways to benefit women and girls. Examples of the type of work honored include: spearheading an effort to open a domestic violence shelter, starting a mentoring program for at-risk girls, educating women and children, giving them the tools and power to live their dreams.

The program begins at the Soroptimist International Redding club level. Award winners are eligible for regional awards with monetary awards given to the winner’s favorite charity.

Although Soroptimist International of Redding is free to honor a woman for a lifetime of good work, the majority of the work should have occurred within the past two years. Previous award winners and Soroptimists are not eligible for the award.
